The best resource for continuing education in psychiatric nursing is the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Their annual clinical psychopharmacology institutes and annual meetings are outstanding and bring you up to date with the state of the science in mental health care. Students can join for a significantly reduced fee. The benefits are worth it for all members as APNA advocates for psychiatric nursing in a way that can only occur with our combined voices.
We also like Epocrates Essentials, especially for psychiatric nurse practitioners. We use it on a Palm device and it updates us every time we sync. There are 3300 drugs, hundreds of diagnostic tests, and even mobile continuing education. At the very least, take a look at Epocrates online, a wonderful resource for clinicians and consumers.
Do you have a favorite student resource? Please contact us at any time and share it with us. We look forward to hearing from you.
